Omneya Abdelsalam is currently a Professor of Accounting and Islamic Finance at Durham University, and the founding director of its El sharaani Ethical Finance, Accounting and Governance research (EEFAG) research centre. Before joining Durham University, she held positions at Aston University and Heriot-watt University in the UK, as well as universities overseas. Professor Abdelsalam has more than three decades of academic experience (teaching and research) and publishes in top internationally ranked academic journals in the areas of Business ethics, Islamic Finance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance and Accountability. She is currently a Subject Editor for the Journal of International Capital Markets Institutions and Money and Emerging Markets Review. In addition, she is an Associate Editor for the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. Many of her research papers are ranked by Science Direct from the top 25 downloaded. She is a member of the editorial board and ad-hoc reviewer of various academic journals and international conferences. Omneya was awarded “The Aston University Excellence in Teaching” Award in 2005 and the “Aston Business School Award for Innovation & Inspiration” in 2009.
The network aims to raise awareness on SDGs globally and to facilitate their implementation through SDG performance assessments as well as organisational change.
